When Freeburn Transport decided to expand into moving-floor transport, the Northern Irish transport company knew exactly what it needed: a trailer that could handle a wide variety of loads and withstand the demands of intensive transport between Ireland and the UK mainland.
After comparing different moving-floor manufacturers, Freeburn chose Kraker K-Force. Today, the company has 10 K-Force trailers in operation, with more planned.
One trailer, many different loads
Flexibility is essential to Freeburn's operation. Its K-Force trailers are used for bulk products such as biomass, compost and bark, but the same trailers can also be used for palletised goods. This gives Freeburn the flexibility to combine different types of transport and make better use of available loads in both directions.
That versatility is particularly valuable for transport between Ireland and the UK mainland, where ferry schedules, delivery times and the availability of return loads all have an impact on day-to-day operations.
Why Freeburn chose Kraker
Freeburn's trailers regularly cross the Irish Sea. Sometimes they travel accompanied by a tractor unit, while at other times they are shipped unaccompanied. That means the trailers must also withstand the additional stresses involved in ferry transport and shunting in ports.
For that reason, Freeburn carefully compared several moving-floor manufacturers before making its choice.

Freeburn first came into contact with Kraker through Setanta Vehicle Sales, Kraker’s dealer in Ireland. With an existing relationship between Freeburn and Setanta, the local dealer played an important role in bringing Freeburn and Kraker together.
For its operation, Freeburn specified the K-Force with a reinforced and plated rear structure, a durable 10 mm 21-plank floor, reinforced rear underrun protection, a galvanised chassis, manual sheeting system and additional LED work lights. With a capacity of 130 cubic yards, the trailers provide the balance between volume and overall dimensions that Freeburn was looking for.
Performing in daily operation
The K-Force trailers are now proving themselves in Freeburn's daily operation. They handle the wide variety of work required of them, while the drivers appreciate the ease of use of the moving-floor control system and other trailer features.
The move into moving-floor transport also allows Freeburn to offer existing customers a wider range of services and create opportunities with new customers.
