Purchase of trailer by Fleuren leads to cooperation
A convergence of circumstances is how TSB's Kraker service partnership came about. Truck Service Bergharen (TSB) is the latest service point of Kraker Trailers. Fleuren Transport, part of the Fleuren Group to which TSB also belongs, was looking for a moving floor trailer that was available at short notice. They ended up at Kraker. In passing, Michiel Fleuren heard during the purchase process from Timothy Wuyts (Kraker salesman) that they were looking for another service partner for the East Netherlands region. A story of how 1 + 1 simply became 2.
Part of the Fleuren Group
The Fleuren Group is certainly no stranger to the Dutch agricultural sector. The company has several businesses, all complementary to each other. The company's story begins in 1919, with a mill and flour trade. Since then, the company has grown steadily. In 2023, there are six companies under the group. Fleuren Veehouderij obtains supplies from Fleuren Fourage. Fleuren Transport provides transport for the two, as well as that of Fleuren Manure and Fleuren Presspack. TSB ensures the fleet remains in perfect condition.
"But," Michiel Fleuren is quick to point out, "only 5% of TSB's work consists of servicing our own vehicles. We don't want customers to get the idea that our own vehicles come first. That is certainly not the case; on the contrary, we are known for our fast service."
Michiel is co-owner and manager of TSB and in that capacity is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. He manages a team of motivated employees.
That quick service Michiel talks about, combined with good prices, ensures that many hauliers find their way to Bergharen for maintenance on their trucks, trailers, light commercial vehicles and fire engines. This diversity is reflected in the customer base: from transport, removal and hoisting companies, to local and regional fire brigades, they all bring their vehicles to the service company in the heart of the Maas and Waal region.
Experience with moving floor trailers
"TSB already has experience with moving floor trailers of various brands, so the concept is certainly not foreign to us. Our mechanics know exactly what to look out for when a moving floor trailer comes in for periodic maintenance. We stock the runners (most common parts, ed.). And in addition, we have specific parts from every brand, including Kraker, in our warehouse. And if we do not have a part? Then we will make sure we have it within 24 hours. In case of emergency, our express courier will even drive to Axel to pick up the parts."
"So we have a lot of experience with moving floors, in both their use and maintenance. But because each brand does have its specific characteristics, our mechanics will soon go on training at Kraker in Axel," Michiel continues.
Higher efficiency through properly aligned vehicles
A while back, TSB moved to new premises. There you will find a more than well-equipped workshop with all modern equipment. You can come to TSB for maintenance on all types of vehicles. One point on which TSB places extra emphasis is the alignment of trucks and trailers. Michiel explains: "Alignment is often a neglected subject, even though it is very important. Because if it is done properly, it saves a transporter a lot of money. I would therefore dare to say that TSB is a true alignment specialist. Is it crooked? Then TSB will straighten it again!", laughs Michiel. "But joking aside, properly aligned vehicles give higher efficiency, less wear and tear and therefore lower costs."
Costs are a major issue for entrepreneurs, especially in recent years. At Fleuren, there is a lot of focus on cost saving, for both their customers and their own group. The Fleuren Group invested heavily in solar panels in 2019. As many as 1,500 were put on the roof of one of the companies. "Of course we do it to reduce costs, but also from a social point of view. You do have a certain responsibility as an entrepreneur and we are happy to take it," says Michiel.
First Kraker moving floor trailer for Fleuren
Fleuren commissioned the first Kraker moving floor trailer this year. "We were looking for a new trailer that could be delivered quickly. That's how I came into contact with Tim Wuyts of Kraker. He was able to deliver a K-Force quickly. We didn't have to think long about a quick delivery of a high-quality trailer. Kraker equipped the trailer with quite a few options that were important to Fleuren. Among other things, we wanted a high-pressure cleaner on the trailer to clean the inside of the body, extra crates and a straw adaptation."
