We won second place in the ‘Smart Trailer’ category at the International Trailer Award for our Moving Smart trailer, which increases efficiency and reduces costs through real-time monitoring.
We are proud to showcase the new Moving Smart telematics available on the latest range of K-Force moving floor trailers at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover. The K-Forces, which also carry the well-known
five-year guarantee, is renowned for having a bolted rather than a welded structure. This is now also available with state-of-the-art telematics. Yet another example of how Kraker continues to innovate for optimal performance.
Moving Smart: smart telematics
The Moving Smart trailers‘ new advanced telematics system collects telemetry data of the trailer's key parameters through smart sensors, which provides the driver with numerous valuable insights into the moving floor trailers’ performance and operation. The data collected is transmitted over the 5G network to an internally developed platform on which drivers can log in through the Kraker dashboard to track their trailer in real time.
The international jury recognised the advantages of Moving Smart and rewarded it with the second prize in the Smart Trailer category. Smart notifications inform drivers or carriers directly through Smart sensors of any incidents involving:
- Floorboard wear
- Use of the moving floor (frequency and total operating time)
- Cargo
- Load distribution
- Vehicle/trailer location
- Odometer reading
- Pressure and temperature of oil in the moving floor system
- Trailer tyre pressure
- Trailer brake wear
Substantial cost savings
Keeping track of these parameters in real time reduces the risk of floor failures and vehicle downtime. Safety is increased at the same time, while emissions are reduced and maintenance costs are significantly lower. Kraker's Moving Smart technology can significantly reduce the Total Cost of Ownership over the total service life of the trailer and reduce CO2 emissions.
PTO shaft and drive system monitoring
Moving Smart continuously collects data on pressure, temperature and resistance in the PTO shaft and floor drive system. The driver automatically receives alerts when action is required. This does not only reduce component wear, but also extends service life and reduces downtime to a minimum at the same time.
Floor wear warnings
The system's smart sensors track floorboard wear with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. This allows the board to be turned over as scheduled and prevents damage to parts. The service life of the floor is therefore significantly extended.
Rental and residual value
The ability to read a trailer's condition and performance remotely allows rental and leasing companies to easily introduce payment on a Pay-Per-Use basis; higher charges are levied for intensive use of the floor than for lighter use. This cost differentiation helps us to be and remain the market leader in our industry. The data collected on the trailer's mechanical health, drive train and floor wear also help determine a trailer's residual value more accurately.
